Lawyers and judges are going to have to watch the way they speak to people in court, including referring to women as “honey,” “darling,” or “sweetheart,” from now on, according to a new rule passed by the American Bar Association Monday.

The ABA, which can sanction lawyers for breaking rules, says it is now officially professional misconduct to harass opposing lawyers in court, according to The New York Times. Here’s our process

What Does It Mean to Be Both Panromantic and Asexual?

What’s the short answer?

----------------------------

Panromantic and asexual are \not\ synonymous — they’re two different identifiers, with two different definitions.

Someone on the asexuality spectrum could use both identities in order to best name their lived experience with romantic (panromantic) and sexual (asexual) attraction.

But, identifying as one doesn’t imply identifying as the other!

Got questions? Read on to learn more.

What does it mean to be panromantic?

----------------------------------------

While your sexual orientation names who you want to have sex with (if anyone), your romantic orientation names who you want to spend time with, well, romantically (if anyone).

“Romantic orientation names who you feel a pull toward, who you desire to cuddle or make dinner with, and who you want to spend all your time with,” explains graysexual panromantic Elle Rose, founder of asexuality spectrum resource Secret Lady Spider and co-host of The Invisible Spectrum podcast.

Panromantic is one of many romantic orientations. Other romantic orientations include homoromantic, heteroromantic, and biromantic.

“Someone who’s panromantic can experience romantic attraction to someone regardless of their gender,” she explains.

In a nod to the prefix ‘pan,’ some panromantic individuals identify as such because they have the potential to be romantically attracted to people of all genders, including men, women, non-binary, bigender, agender, and non-gender folks.

To be clear: All people have a romantic orientation \and\ a sexual orientation.

“It may be common for people on the asexuality spectrum to name their romantic orientation, but people all across the sexuality spectrum have a sexual orientation,” says Rose.

Sometimes people’s romantic orientation and sexual orientation align. For instance, someone might be bisexual and biromantic.

And sometimes they don’t. For instance, someone may be panromantic and asexual. This is known as being ‘cross-oriented’ or ‘mix-oriented.’

What does it mean to be asexual? pH balanced lube

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“The most common definition of ‘asexual’ is someone who doesn’t experience sexual attraction,” explains Angela Chen, author of “Ace: What Asexuality Reveals About Desire, Society, and the Meaning of Sex.”

The opposite of asexual is allosexual. Allosexual folks are those who do have the capacity to experience (regular) sexual attraction.

Are there other identities under the asexual umbrella?

----------------------------------------------------------

Indeed!

Here’s where this can get a li’l confusing. Ready?

Sometimes people use ‘asexual’ as an umbrella term, allowing it to stand in for another non-allosexual or non-alloromantic identities.

For example, someone who’s demisexual, graysexual, or cupiosexual — all of which are terms that name sexual attraction that occurs rarely or only under certain circumstances — might identify as asexual.

Likewise, someone who’s aromantic, demiromantic, or grayromantic — all of which are terms that name romantic attraction that occurs never, rarely, or only under certain circumstances — might identify as asexual, too.

This means that you get to decide what ‘asexual’ means to you, should you decide to identify that way.

What does it mean to identify with both?

--------------------------------------------

Someone who’s panromantic asexual is naming that they:

What does this look like in practice? UK vibrating toys

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just as there’s no single way to be lesbian and homoromantic or heterosexual and heteroromantic, there’s no single way to be panromantic and asexual.

Generally speaking, it’s common for someone who’s panromantic and asexual to:

What does this mean for partnered relationships?

----------------------------------------------------

“It’s possible for someone who’s asexual to be in a romantic relationship,” says Chen. If you’re asexual and panromantic, it’s possible to be in a relationship with someone of any gender.

“You might choose to be with someone who’s also on the ace and asexuality spectrum OR with someone who’s allosexual,” she says.

“Of course, not all allosexual/asexual relationships will work,” she adds. “No relationship is guaranteed.” Fair point!

Also worth mentioning: Some ace folks thrive in polyamorous or open relationships, which allow them to get their romantic needs met while allowing their partner (if they’re allosexual) to get their sexual needs met elsewhere.

So it may be helpful for you to spend some time noodling on your relationship orientation and preferred relationship structure. KY Jelly

Is it OK to not want a relationship at all?

-----------------------------------------------

Of course!

Just because someone can experience romantic attraction to someone, doesn’t mean they need or want to be acting on it at all times, or ever.

Think about it like this: Someone who’s heterosexual and heteromantic, for example, is absolutely allowed to be single and never desire a relationship, right? Well, same goes for panromantic and asexual folks.

Plus, romantic and sexual relationships aren’t the only kinds of worthy relationships. There are also platonic relationships, spiritual relationships, familial relationships, and intellectual relationships, to name just a few.

What does this mean for sex?

---------------------------------

“Sometimes people think that they can’t identify as asexual if they’ve ever had sex,” says Rose. “This is false. Someone can absolutely identify as asexual and have had sex previously.”

In fact, someone might identify as asexual and have sex currently, she says.

There are a number of reasons outside of sexual attraction that someone who’s asexual might choose to have sex, either in a partnered or solo context.

This might include:

How do you know if you’re aligned with these categories at all?

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Like other sexual and romantic orientations, someone is panromantic and asexual because they identify that way — not because they passed some panromantic asexuality quiz or checked off a prerequisite list of identifiers.

The only way for you to know if you identify as panromantic or asexual is to reflect on the way you experience romantic and sexual desire as well as when and for whom (if ever or for anyone).

Where can you learn more?

-----------------------------

Luckily, there are a number of different places you might turn to learn more about panromantic asexuality!

Some books you might read:

Some podcasts you might listen to:

Some online resources you might check out:

Finally, don’t snooze on the wondrous world of social media!

To be clear: All people have a romantic orientation *and* a sexual orientation.

Someone who’s panromantic asexual is naming that they:

What does this look like in practice? UK vibrating toys

Just as there’s no single way to be lesbian and homoromantic or heterosexual and heteroromantic, there’s no single way to be panromantic and asexual.

Generally speaking, it’s common for someone who’s panromantic and asexual to:

What does this mean for partnered relationships?

“Sometimes people think that they can’t identify as asexual if they’ve ever had sex,” says Rose. “This is false. Someone can absolutely identify as asexual and have had sex previously.”

In fact, someone might identify as asexual and have sex currently, she says.

There are a number of reasons outside of sexual attraction that someone who’s asexual might choose to have sex, either in a partnered or solo context.

This might include:

How do you know if you’re aligned with these categories at all?

Like other sexual and romantic orientations, someone is panromantic and asexual because they identify that way — not because they passed some panromantic asexuality quiz or checked off a prerequisite list of identifiers.

The only way for you to know if you identify as panromantic or asexual is to reflect on the way you experience romantic and sexual desire as well as when and for whom (if ever or for anyone).

Where can you learn more?

Luckily, there are a number of different places you might turn to learn more about panromantic asexuality!

<![CDATA["Sex Education" Star Patricia Allison on Ola's New Relationships and Her Favorite Suit

Major spoilers for Netflix's Sex Education season 2 below.

In Sex Education season 2, we finally get to see Patricia Allison’s Ola truly shine. With her stunning suits and no-nonsense disposition, Ola instantly captured hearts when she was first introduced halfway through the show’s debut season. This time around, fans got to see more Ola than ever as she starts as the new kid at Moordale Secondary and has to balance the fact that her dad is also dating her boyfriend’s mom. Ola discovers a whole lot more about herself throughout the second season, proving that she’s one of the more captivating characters in the series.

From the get-go, it seems that everything is going well between Ola and Otis (Asa Butterfield) now that she’s at school with all the other Sex Education characters. While Otis seems to be able to fix everyone else’s problems, there’s something not quite right between him and Ola once they start engaging in some sexual shenanigans beyond making out and heavy petting: Ola isn’t able to muster up the confidence to tell her boyfriend that his fingering technique isn’t hitting the spot. The whole debacle makes for quite the charming yet instructive adolescent conflict Sex Education has become known for. When Ola finally reveals how she truly feels about Otis’s attempts, it’s for much more than comedic value.

“That is one of my favorite scenes because Ola is supposed to be somebody that can literally speak her mind and she finds it really difficult to communicate with him at first about it,” Patricia, who goes by Trish, tells Teen Vogue. “It is essential to show that, because so many people have been in a situation they just can't find a way to say, ‘I want something else,’ because they think it's going to offend the other person or whatever. But actually what we learn is that in the long run, it's much easier to just sort of be honest in the beginning.”

Ola’s journey throughout Sex Education season 2 is about much more than her relationship with Otis. In fact, even after they get past the fingering fiasco, things just aren’t quite working between the two of them, and Ola ultimately wants them to be just friends. Following their split, and as feelings for another Moordale classmate begin to bubble up, Ola starts wondering more about her sexuality. After taking an online quiz during downtime at the convenience store she works at with Adam (Connor Swindells), she realizes that she might actually identify as pansexual. toy hygiene

“Ola is just the kind of character to me that I think from the beginning, you could never really put in a box. She really is the definition of pansexual, she will go based on the personality and who makes a laugh, and who catches her eye in that sparkly way,” Trish says. “I really like that we show that side of sexuality too, because a lot of young people are trying to figure out what sort of box they go in — there's other ways that you can put your sexuality into. Pansexuality is also something that's never really been discussed properly before.”

Realizing she’s pansexual helps her start figuring out her feelings for Lily (Tanya Reynolds), the fan fiction-obsessed friend that Ola begins having steamy dreams about. Once Ola is able to process that she’s someone who doesn’t see her attractions limited by gender, her crush on Lily is finally able to blossom. Trish says the foundation for that is set the very first time the characters meet, when they connect over a comic book named Tank Girl. There’s no doubt there’s a spark between the two of them, but Lily takes a bit more time to accept that than Ola.

Patricia Allison and Tanya Reynolds as Ola and Lily in Sex Education season 2.

“The way that Ola is quite headstrong also sort of throws Lily off in one way, and normally she's very headstrong as well. So it's interesting to see these two characters together,” she says. “I find their relationships to be fantastic, and we get to see how they grow as friends as well. It's just nice how it's a surprise as well.”

Another surprise is the budding friendship between Adam and Ola. On paper the two are polar opposites. But through working together, they eventually form a connection. Soon, the former bully is inviting Ola out to smash junk in his secret spot, and she’s sticking up for him at work.

“Ola just really sees him for the blunt guy that she really likes to get on with, and just wants to make him laugh and smile. She's got a lot of love to give and she sees that he needs it. It's really moving,” Trish says. “It's one of my favorite friendships. We get to see him for who he is and how difficult he finds it to accept himself and to communicate his feelings. I just thought it was so necessary for them to find each other. These two kind of oddballs.”

This content can also be viewed on the site it originates from.

Where does she see the duo during a possible season 3 now that they’ve both been fired? Trish has a modest suggestion: “An aquarium? Just somewhere where they're trying to be serious but they're really ... they can just be silly.”

Trish’s character also lets the other girls of Moordale in on the fun of letting out anger by smashing things to smithereens. During detention in the extremely stirring seventh episode, the girls of Moordale come together through their shared experiences of sexual violence —catalyzed by Aimee’s bus assault story. Still teeming with frustration, Ola suggests they head to the junkyard to blow off some steam.

Ola says the scene really challenged her and her castmates, while being liberating at the same time. Roxana UK “We didn't know we had that much rage inside us,” she says. “Spending a couple of days with the girls in the library as well was just so lovely. When the boys came back it was kind of like, ‘Oh yeah, right. Yeah. Nice to see you guys.’”

Sex Education has been praised for all the ways it has explored sex, whether it’s having it for the first time, asking for consent, getting an abortion, or preparing for anal sex. Trish acknowledges the power that these characters have to illuminate topics or discussions about human carnality that have been less talked about.

“We've just been looking for a way to talk about sex that isn't sexy or you know, gratuitous. I love that we never ever see a truly successful sex scene. That's really impressive about the show and actually part of the success of it. Because then you kind of learn a bit about these characters and what's going on,” she says. Meanwhile, she adds that the show has been helping people “unlearn” and “re-learn” information taught to them about sex.

As for all the amazing suits that Trish gets to wear as Ola?
young-people-having-more-kinds-of-sex

<![CDATA[Study Shows Young People Are Having More Kinds of Sex

A new study published by the Journal of Adolescent Health30330-0/fulltext) shows that young adults, particularly heterosexual teens, are much more comfortable with sexual experimentation than they were 20 years ago. While this might not seem surprising as attitudes towards sex and sexuality shift, it's vitally important to know. As more and more young people begin to explore their sexuality, it's imperative that they have the education and resources to do so safely. In that area, we're still lagging behind where we were even 10 years ago.

Researchers analyzed over 45,000 interviews of British residents between 16 to 24 years old, from three surveys conducted every decade since the 1930s, who were surveyed within the past 22 years. Questions included information about personal sexual experiences, attitudes toward specific sex acts, and overall sexual behavior.

The study shows that the amount of heterosexual people who have had vaginal, oral, and anal sex nearly doubled between 1990 and 2012. The most recently released study shows that between 2010 and 2012, one in five women and one in four men participated in all three forms of intercourse within the past year. The largest increase in sexual activity was found among older teens aged 16 to 19. The authors also wrote that findings confirm that oral and anal sex are joining “rather than replacing” vaginal intercourse.

Ultimately, the results show that young people today are much more open to trying new sex acts and forms of intercourse once thought of as totally taboo. Harvard University recently hosted an anal sex 101 workshop, hoping to change the stigma surrounding the sex act and keep those who are having sex as safe and educated as possible. Sex ed hasn’t been limited to the classroom either — recently, the #MyFirstTime hashtag took over the Internet and gave people a space to openly discuss the first time they had sexual intercourse.

Of course, while it’s true that all kinds of resources for sex ed have popped up in recent years, including Gynopedia, that doesn’t necessarily mean that all young people are getting the tools they need. Other recent studies published by the Journal, like this one conducted by the Center for Innovative Public Health Research (CiPHR) found that LGBTQ girls are not receiving proper sex ed. The results detailed that young members of the LGBTQ community feel that the focus on heterosexual sex is uncomfortable. flirty cami

Michele Ybarra, a principal investigator in the study, also explained that lack of information around sexual intercourse between people with vaginas was contributing to incorrect understandings of STIs. “They need to know that there are sexy ways to use barriers, that they can make dental dams out of condoms if needed, and that they can get STIs having sex with other girls,” she says.

In fact, comprehensive sex ed that includes the LGBTQ community is so heavily stigmatized and lacking that just last year in California, a school district was prevented from creating a program that would have abided by new state laws and catered to the LGBTQ community. Broadly reported that so many parents protested the inclusion of definitions of basic sex acts and the sex ed curriculum itself that that school district failed to pass the programming for middle school students. sheer plus tights

Instances like this tell us that sexual education still has a long way to go until it can be considered truly comprehensive. With this latest study confirming that sex acts besides vaginal intercourse are on the rise, it is all the more reason to give young people and teens the inclusive sex ed they deserve — sexual education that explains enough for people of any and all genders and orientations to be practicing safe, informed, and consensual sex. hen night games

Related: Anal Sex: What You Need to Know

©

2025

naughty clit toys -- -- Condé Nast.

Study Shows Young People Are Having More Kinds of Sex
=====================================================

A new study published by the Journal of Adolescent Health shows that young adults, particularly heterosexual teens, are much more comfortable with sexual experimentation than they were 20 years ago.

<![CDATA[Are you tired of your nails chipping within days of your manicure? Enter BIAB nails, the latest trend sweeping through the salons of London. Short for “Builder in a Bottle,” BIAB is not just your typical gel—it’s a game changer! Known for its durability and ability to strengthen your natural nails, this builder gel solution is perfect for anyone who dreams of having long, glossy nails that last.

Whether you’re looking for a quick BIAB manicure near me or the full pedicure treatment, London’s nail bars are embracing this long-lasting, nail-saving technology. From BIAB extensions to the perfect base coat for intricate nail art, BIAB does it all—without damaging your natural nails. If you’re in London and searching for the ultimate, you’re in the right place!

In this article, we’ll dive into why BIAB is quickly becoming the go-to for anyone seeking strong, beautiful nails that can survive the daily hustle of city life. Whether it’s a BIAB manicure for a special occasion or a relaxing pedicure to keep your feet in top shape, we’ve got you covered.

What is BIAB?
-------------

BIAB, or “Builder in a Bottle,” is a gel-like product designed to strengthen and protect natural nails. Unlike regular gel polish, which is mainly for color and aesthetics, BIAB adds a more robust layer, offering superior durability and promoting nail health. It’s particularly popular among those with weak, brittle nails or individuals trying to grow their natural nails, as the gel creates a protective barrier that reduces the risk of breakage.

While both BIAB and regular gel nails involve curing under a UV lamp, the main difference lies in their formulation and purpose. Regular gel polish is thinner and mainly adds color and shine to the nails.

In contrast, BIAB is thicker and designed to build strength and durability. BIAB is a “builder gel,” which can be used to add extensions, something regular gel polish cannot do.

Another advantage of BIAB is its long-lasting nature. It typically lasts three to four weeks, compared to the two-week lifespan of traditional gel manicures. Plus, BIAB’s thicker layer makes it more resistant to chipping and breakage.

One of the best aspects of BIAB is that it’s not limited to manicures—it can also be used for pedicures. Whether you’re seeking BIAB nails near me for a manicure or a relaxing pedicure in London, this versatile product works equally well on both hands and feet. Its strength and durability make it perfect for the rougher treatment feet often endure.

With its rising popularity across London, you can find numerous salons offering BIAB manicures and pedicures near you, making it easier than ever to maintain healthy, beautiful nails for weeks at a time.

Benefits of BIAB Nails
----------------------

When it comes to choosing the best option for long-lasting, durable, and healthy nails, BIAB nails (Builder in a Bottle) have quickly become a favorite. Whether you’re looking for enhanced protection or aiming to strengthen weak, brittle nails, BIAB offers numerous advantages that make it a top choice over traditional gel manicures.

1. Durability and Protection for Natural Nails: One of the most significant benefits of BIAB is its durability. Unlike regular gel polish, which may chip within two weeks, BIAB forms a strong, protective layer that can last up to four weeks. This makes it perfect for those who want a long-lasting manicure without the hassle of frequent touch-ups. Additionally, BIAB’s thicker consistency offers better protection for natural nails, helping to prevent breakage and chipping.

2. Ability to Infill BIAB Nails, Saving Time: Another key advantage is the ability to infill BIAB nails. Instead of removing the gel entirely when your nails grow out, you can add new gel at the base to maintain the look. This infill process is less damaging to your natural nails and saves both time and money in the long run.

3. Health Benefits: Strengthens Weak Nails and Promotes Growth: BIAB is particularly known for promoting the health of natural nails. It strengthens weak, brittle nails by providing a protective layer that allows them to grow without breaking. The product is especially popular among people who have trouble growing their natural nails due to damage or weakness, as it offers the dual benefit of improving appearance and boosting nail health.

With BIAB’s ability to strengthen nails and provide long-lasting results, it’s no surprise that so many people are searching for BIAB nails near me to experience the benefits firsthand. Whether you want stronger nails or a manicure that lasts longer, BIAB is a fantastic option for all your nail care needs.

How to Care for Your BIAB Manicure and Pedicure
-----------------------------------------------

Proper care for your BIAB nails ensures they remain strong, beautiful, and long-lasting. Below are some essential tips to maintain your manicure or pedicure and keep your nails looking flawless for weeks.

1. Regular Cuticle Care: One of the most important aspects of maintaining BIAB nails is keeping your cuticles hydrated. Regular application of cuticle oil helps prevent dryness and lifting, which can compromise the durability of your nails. Hydrated cuticles also promote overall nail health, ensuring that the BIAB gel adheres properly and stays intact.

2. Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Protect your nails by minimizing contact with harsh chemicals found in cleaning products. Always wear gloves while doing household chores, such as washing dishes or cleaning. Exposure to chemicals can weaken the BIAB layer, making your manicure or pedicure prone to lifting or chipping.

3. Avoid Excessive Heat in the First 24 Hours: After getting a fresh BIAB manicure or pedicure, avoid exposing your nails to excessive heat, such as hot baths, saunas, or tanning beds, for at least 24 hours. Heat can interfere with the curing process and may reduce the longevity of your BIAB application.

Shofla Shop

4. Maintain the Longevity of BIAB Nails: With proper care, BIAB nails can last up to four weeks without chipping. To extend the life of your manicure or pedicure, schedule BIAB infills every 2-3 weeks. Infills fill the gap that forms near your cuticle as your natural nails grow, maintaining the seamless look and structure of your nails without removing the entire set.

By following these tips and keeping up with regular infills, your BIAB nails will remain strong and glossy for weeks. Whether you’re looking for BIAB nails near me or maintaining your nails at home, these care practices will ensure your nails stay beautiful and healthy for as long as possible.

Conclusion – BIAB Manicures and Pedicures in London
---------------------------------------------------

BIAB (Builder in a Bottle) nails have quickly gained popularity in London thanks to their durability, versatility, and ability to promote natural nail growth. We’ve seen it all and consistently perform at an exceptional level.

After booking your surgery, you will receive a comprehensive package containing information, forms, and detailed instructions to help you prepare for the big day. It’s crucial to read through this material attentively, as it will outline everything you need to know and do to ensure you’re ready for your procedure. We understand that you may have a lot on your mind and a myriad of questions, both big and small, and we’re here to help.

To further assist you, we have compiled a list of some of the most frequently asked questions we receive from patients before their surgery. These questions address common concerns and provide valuable insights into the preparation process, helping you feel more confident and informed as you approach your surgical date.

Is it possible to have someone accompany me before the surgery?
---------------------------------------------------------------

Yes, you can have a friend or family member come with you to the clinic and stay with you until the pre-surgery process begins. When you arrive at Centre for Surgery in Marylebone, please check in at the front desk. After checking in, our friendly staff will ask you a few brief questions and verify your caregiver’s contact information. Depending on the schedule and the case preceding yours, you and your companion might need to wait in the waiting area for a short time.

As soon as our nursing team is ready to receive you, we will kindly ask your companion or caregiver to leave the clinic and find a nearby comfortable location to wait while your surgery is underway. We request that caregivers keep their mobile phones switched on and ensure they are easily reachable and within a 20-30 minute journey of the clinic throughout the entire duration of your surgical day.

Having a loved one by your side before your surgery can provide additional emotional support and comfort during this significant event in your life. However, it’s essential to follow the clinic’s guidelines to ensure a smooth and efficient surgical process for all patients.

When will I know the precise time for my surgical procedure?
------------------------------------------------------------

The specific time for your surgery will be confirmed approximately one week before your scheduled procedure. Your patient coordinator will contact you to inform you of your designated arrival time at the clinic. During this call, they will also go over any final instructions and discuss the items you should bring with you on the day of the surgery.

It’s important to note that the entire surgical process, from arrival to departure, typically lasts around 4-6 hours, assuming everything proceeds according to schedule. This duration includes pre-surgery preparations, the procedure itself, and post-surgery recovery time. Please keep in mind that this is an estimate, and individual experiences may vary depending on the specifics of your surgery and any unforeseen circumstances.

By providing you with a clear timeline and thorough information, we aim to ensure that you feel prepared, confident, and comfortable as you approach your surgical day.

What can I expect during the admission process on my surgical day?
------------------------------------------------------------------

Once it is time for you to proceed to the day ward, you’ll be guided downstairs, where you’ll meet your dedicated clinical team, consisting of nurses, your anaesthetist, and, of course, your surgeon.

Upon arrival, you will be asked to change into a surgical gown, head cover, disposable underwear, and foot covers. You’ll then settle into one of our comfortable beds in your private bay. Your admission nurse will take this opportunity to record your vital signs, verify the details of your procedure, and secure an ID band around your wrist. As part of the pre-operative preparations, the nurse will also provide you with the necessary medication.

Following this, your anaesthetist will join you to ask a few questions and address any concerns or inquiries you may have. Your surgeon will then meet with you for a final pre-surgery consultation, marking the surgical site and answering any last-minute questions that you may have.

The time spent in the day ward typically ranges between 45-60 minutes, but the duration may vary depending on the progress of the cases scheduled before yours. It’s essential to understand that unforeseen delays can occur, and we appreciate your patience and understanding during this process.

Throughout the admission process, our team is committed to ensuring you feel comfortable, well-informed, and prepared for your surgical journey.

How long will I need to wear a postoperative compression garment?
-----------------------------------------------------------------

The length of time you need to wear a postoperative garment depends on the type of surgery you’ve had, your surgeon’s advice, and how your body heals. These garments, also called compression garments, are vital for ensuring a smooth and comfortable recovery.

Generally, you should wear your postoperative garment for about 2 to 6 weeks after surgery. However, this can vary based on your specific procedure, your body’s healing pace, and your surgeon’s guidance. Sometimes, you might need to wear it for a shorter or longer period.

The primary purpose of these garments is to provide consistent compression. This helps reduce swelling, supports tissues as they heal, and improves overall comfort. Compression garments also help prevent complications like seroma formation or excessive scarring.

Initially, you should wear the garment continuously, except when showering or washing it. As you heal, your surgeon may advise gradually reducing the time you wear it each day.

A proper fit is crucial. Your surgeon or their team will help you choose the right size and type of garment. It should provide consistent compression without causing discomfort or restricting blood flow.

During follow-up appointments, your surgeon will check your healing progress and tell you when you can stop wearing the garment. It is essential to follow your surgeon’s instructions carefully and not stop using the garment too soon.

Depending on your surgery and individual needs, there may be variations in the type of garment, how long you wear it, and the level of compression. Always follow your surgeon’s personalised recomm

RELATED: Benefits of Wearing A Compression Garment After Cosmetic Surgery

Is it necessary for me to obtain my medications before the surgery?
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes, it is essential to make arrangements for acquiring your prescribed medications before your surgical procedure. Ideally, you should collect these medications ahead of time or ask a friend, family member, or caregiver to pick them up for you while you are being admitted by our team. Taking this proactive approach helps to ensure that you have the necessary medications readily available when needed, allowing for a smoother recovery process.

By acquiring your medications in advance, you can avoid the inconvenience of searching for open pharmacies after your surgery, when you might be experiencing pain or discomfort. Having your medications on hand not only expedites your recovery but also helps to alleviate any anxiety or concerns related to post-surgical care. Your health and comfort are our top priorities, and we highly recommend preparing for your surgery by securing your prescribed medications beforehand.

What should I do if I’m feeling unwell on the morning of my surgery?
--------------------------------------------------------------------

If you happen to feel unwell on the day of your surgery, it’s important to promptly notify our medical team, as we handle such situations on a case-by-case basis. Our primary concern is your well-being and ensuring the safest possible environment for your surgical procedure.

Upon receiving your call, we will assess your symptoms and the overall situation to determine the best course of action. Depending on the nature of your illness and its potential impact on the surgery, our medical team may decide that rescheduling your procedure is necessary in the interest of patient safety.

Please remember that your health is our top priority, and we will work with you to find the most suitable solution for your particular circumstances. It is crucial to keep the lines of communication open and inform our team of any health concerns, as this allows us to provide you with the best possible care and support throughout your surgical journey.

If I’m a smoker, when am I allowed to resume smoking? Is it permissible to have a cigarette before surgery to ease my nerves?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As a smoker, it is crucial to cease smoking a minimum of one month before your surgery, with an even earlier cessation—preferably two months—being the ideal scenario. Post-surgery, you must abstain from smoking for at least one month, although a longer period is highly recommended. Smoking significantly hinders the healing process, so the longer you can refrain from it, the better your recovery is likely to be.

Regarding smoking and its relation to surgery, there are strict guidelines that must not be compromised. It is absolutely prohibited to have a cigarette, even as a means of calming your nerves, prior to surgery. Undergoing cosmetic surgery may present the perfect opportunity for you to quit smoking permanently, thus leading to a healthier lifestyle overall.

RELATED: Smokers & Cosmetic Surgery – The Impact of Smoking

When can I have sex after cosmetic surgery?
-------------------------------------------

The recommended timeline for resuming sexual activity after cosmetic surgery varies based on the specific procedure you undergo. In general, it is safe to engage in sexual activity approximately two weeks after your surgery, but we advise taking it easy during this time. It is important to remember that your body is still healing, and overly vigorous activity could lead to complications and prolong the recovery process.

It is essential to follow the specific guidelines provided by your surgeon regarding postoperative sexual activity. Some procedures, particularly those involving the genital area, may require a longer period of abstinence. For example, most cosmetic gynaecology procedures such as labiaplasty necessitate a period of abstinence of at least four to six weeks to ensure proper healing and minimise the risk of complications.

It is also essential to be mindful of your own body and listen to any discomfort or pain that you may experience during sexual activity. If you feel any discomfort, it may be best to refrain from sexual activity and consult with your surgeon to ensure everything is healing properly.

What degree of pain can I anticipate following my surgical procedure?
---------------------------------------------------------------------

At Centre for Surgery, we prioritise patient comfort and have implemented an exceptional pain management protocol to ensure a smooth postoperative experience. Nonetheless, it is important to remember that surgery is an invasive process, and a certain degree of discomfort is expected. It is also essential to note that each individual’s pain tolerance varies, and our team is dedicated to making sure you feel as comfortable as possible, with any pain or discomfort kept to a minimum.

The extent of discomfort experienced will differ depending on the specific surgical procedure you undergo. For instance, surgeries such as tummy tucks, 360 liposuction, or body contouring after significant weight loss are generally associated with higher levels of discomfort compared to other procedures.

Many patients who have undergone breast surgeries report a relatively comfortable recovery process. In fact, some of these patients may feel so well that we often need to encourage them to take it slow and allow their bodies to heal properly. However, it is crucial to understand that individual experiences will differ, and it is entirely normal to expect some level of discomfort and pain regardless of the type of surgery performed.

Our team is committed to providing personalised care and support throughout your recovery, ensuring that your healing process is as pain-free and comfortable as possible.

What steps should I take if my prescribed painkillers run out after my surgery?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Our medical team, including your nurse and doctor, will closely monitor your progress during your recovery. In most instances, patients do not require additional pain medication beyond the initial prescription. However, if you find yourself in an exceptional situation where you are experiencing unbearable pain, it is important to promptly communicate your concerns with your doctor and nurse.

Upon assessing your condition and evaluating your need for additional pain relief, your doctor may decide to issue a digital prescription for more painkillers, which can be sent to your local pharmacy. It is important to note that this is a rare occurrence, as our team carefully plans and prescribes appropriate pain management measures for each patient.

In any case, always remember to maintain open communication with your medical team and share any concerns you may have about your recovery. We are here to provide support and guidance throughout your post-operative journey, ensuring your comfort and well-being.

Can I smoke cannabis or take CBD oil before surgery?
----------------------------------------------------

It is not advisable to smoke cannabis or consume CBD oil before surgery. Both substances can have potentially negative effects on your surgical experience and recovery. Some reasons for abstaining from cannabis and CBD oil before surgery include the following:

Cannabis and CBD can interact with anaesthesia, potentially causing complications during your surgery. These substances can alter the effectiveness of anaesthesia, making it difficult for your anesthesiologist to manage pain control and sedation.

Cannabis has been associated with an increased risk of bleeding due to its blood-thinning properties. This can cause complications during surgery and prolong the healing process.

Smoking cannabis can impair lung function and increase the risk of respiratory complications during and after surgery. Poor lung function can make it difficult for your body to recover from anaesthesia and can lead to complications such as pneumonia.

Cannabis and CBD oil can affect the body’s immune response and interfere with the healing process. This may lead to slower wound healing, a higher risk of infection, and potentially compromised surgical results.

Cannabis and CBD oil can interact with medications prescribed before, during, or after surgery, potentially leading to adverse reactions or reduced effectiveness of these medications.

Should I have someone to help me after the first 24 hours after surgery?
------------------------------------------------------------------------

After surgery, it’s important to consider having someone help you beyond the first 24 hours. At Centre for Surgery, having a caregiver for 24 hours after the surgery is mandatory. This is because the anaesthesia medications can still be in effect during this period, which can make it difficult for you to take care of yourself.

While having someone to assist you after the first 24 hours is not a necessity, it can certainly be helpful. For instance, having someone to prepare meals or help with household tasks like laundry or cleaning can allow you to focus on your recovery and rest more comfortably. Additionally, having someone to provide emotional support and companionship during the post-surgery period can be highly beneficial.

It’s also important to note that after your surgery, you need to take at least seven days off from any work, including household chores. This means that you should avoid activities such as cleaning, laundry, and other strenuous tasks. It’s also essential to avoid any childcare responsibilities during this time. Taking these precautions is necessary to ensure proper healing and a successful outcome.

For those with young children, it can be challenging to take time off from household duties, but it’s crucial to prioritise your recovery during this time. You may want to consider arranging for help from family or friends, or hiring a caregiver if needed.

What will I look like immediately after my procedure?
-----------------------------------------------------

The postoperative appearance can vary depending on the surgery you undergo. Typically, right after the procedure, you may experience swelling and bruising in the treated area. The extent of these physical changes can differ from person to person, as some individuals are more prone to swelling and bruising than others. Additionally, the type of surgical intervention you have undergone can influence the severity of the swelling and bruising you experience.

It’s worth noting that the immediate results you see after the surgery are not necessarily indicative of the final outcome. Recovery from surgery is a gradual process, and your body requires time to heal and adapt to the changes made. Therefore, the true results of the procedure may not be noticeable for several months, and sometimes up to a year after the surgery. During this time, it’s crucial to follow your surgeon’s aftercare instructions to ensure proper healing and optimal results. So, be patient and trust the process as you gradually see your desired outcome taking shape.

What if I do not like my cosmetic surgery results?
--------------------------------------------------

At Centre for Surgery, we understand that cosmetic surgery can be an exciting, yet nerve-wracking experience. It’s perfectly normal to have pre-surgery jitters, especially when it comes to concerns about the final outcome of the procedure.
